Basic system reset (3 sec)(1 beep)  <--- 要在 GUI 上設定 "Enable configuration reset switch"

(The disk data will be retained.)

Advanced system reset ( 10 sec)(2 beeps at the third and the tenth seconds)

(“Administration” > “Restore to Factory Default” )

yes when you hold the reset button for about 3sec until you hear a beep your data will not be touched.

but if you keep holding the button for about 10s until you hear another beep your nas will be completely reset to factory default, including wiping all data.

Remark

雖然 reset 了之後所有 Data 仍在, 不過系統上的 User 及 Group 都會全不見了

 


Complete Reinitialization

 

需時: 1 hour (格式化硬碟…)

  1. Poweroff NAS
  2. Remove your HDD(s) from the tray
  3. Boot up the NAS without HDD(s) installed
    (You will hear a short beep, and after about 1~2 minutes, a long beep)
    (The system will use the embedded image to boot up)
  4. Then run the Finder on your PC, it will help you to find the NAS on the network
  5. Use the default ID (admin) and password (admin) to login if it asks
  6. Hot-plug the HDD(s) into the NAS
  7. Go through the installation process including formating hard disk and installing the firmware

Recovery

  1. Power off the NAS.
  2. Remove all the hard disks.
  3. Power on the NAS.
  4. Wait for ten seconds and check if you hear a short beep.
  5. If you only hear a short beep or do not hear any beep, follow the instructions of this guide to recover your NAS.

Recovery 過程

1. Download the live CD ISO image

2. boot up from the CD, When the login prompt is shown, go to next step.
   (No login is required. )

3. Power off the NAS and remove all hard disks.
   Connect the NAS to the PC directly by an Ethernet cable.

4. Use a pen or any pointed object to press and hold the RESET button.  
   Then press the Power button on the front panel to power on the NAS at the meanwhile.

5. Please keep holding the RESET button and Power button until you hear two short beeps in about 5-8 seconds.
   Status: The Status LED of the NAS should be flashing red and green and then glows red.
           The LED on the LAN port of the NAS should be flashing for the first few seconds and
           then glows green or orange.

   Note: use the command "ifconfig" to see if the number of TX on eth0 is increasing or not.

6. Wait until you hear a long beep or two short beeps and see the Status LED flashing green.
   The NAS will then reboot. No intervention required during this stage.

7. Connect the NAS to your switch or router and use QNAP Finder to find the NAS.
